What Should We Do Before Sending Our Clothes To Laundry Service?
Sending out your clothes for laundry cleaning? There are clothes that need to be dry cleaned e.g. apparels made of delicate materials, woolen wear, jackets etc. how do you handle such clothes? There are many heavy items that need to be washed too e.g. curtains, sofa covers, quilt covers etc, who can perform this chore if you do not have a domestic helper? Now that you have decided to use the laundry service, what should you do before sending your clothes to them?
First and foremost, remove any personal items that can be found in your clothes. For men, check for coins, pens, papers, keys and maybe even rings that could be left in the pockets of pants as well as in the pockets of shirts. For ladies, check those brooches that are pinned on the clothes are removed; also check for any possible items that could be found in the pockets of skirts e.g. lipsticks or pens.
Secondly, determine if there any stains on any of the clothes. If stains are noted, these should be highlighted to the laundry service so that special attention could be paid to them.
Thirdly, separate items that need to be dry cleaned from those that need normal cleaning etc. and arrange the clothes by types e.g. shirts, skirts, jackets etc. Next, it is advisable to separate the whites from the rest of the coloured clothes.
Finally, be sure that you are able to identify the clothes that you are sending to the laundry services especially if there are any very expensive items, lest you do not get back the original items upon collection.
Having put them in different bags, record the number of pieces you are submitting and check that the staff at the laundry service count them and tally to your recorded number. Make sure that they label the packages correctly as belonging to you before you accept their invoice and paying the deposit. Do check that the amount charged tallied by the type of clothing, type of washing required and number of pieces given. Seek clarification at the spot, if necessary.
Having to pay for laundry services, you would expect your clothes to be washed according to the standards specified in the labels of the clothes as well as ensuring that they are thoroughly cleaned and neatly pressed. So upon collection of the clothes, besides checking that the number of pieces is correct and that they are returned with no damage and stains properly removed; do check that the items collected are really yours before making the final payment!
