Dry Cleaning
People have used dry cleaning for decades to cheaply clean and maintain the quality of garments that can’t be traditionally cleaned. Most clothing will tell you if a garment needs to be dry cleaned. Many people shy away from buying clothing requiring cleaning because they don’t want to be bothered with the headache of finding a cleaner, making sure they understand your needs, and then picking the garment up again. Thankfully, if you know a few helpful hints, the dry cleaning can actually be a convenience.
The manufacturer of your clothing is only legally obligated to list on form of cleaning. Manufacturer’s often list the easiest cleaning method, so clothing is often listed as “dry clean only.” However, many of these clothes that are supposedly only safe for dry cleaning, can actually be washed at home by hand with relative ease.
THE PROCESS OF DRY CLEANING
Have you ever noticed that why we call dry cleaning with its name of “dry cleaning” especially at the time when your garments are dipped in a liquid solvent? The reason can be because they are sent dry and are brought out dry. The term “dry cleaning” is misleading a bit its customers and believers.
Here is the process of dry cleaning.
Step 1:
The very first step is that you handover your garments to a trusted dry cleaner. Some cleaner fastens them with plastic fasteners while some of them fastens ties them up with plastic fasteners. Some cleaners staple a tag to the garment and after that they provide a receipt to their client. The client has to come up with this receipt when he comes to pick his clothes back. After it the garments are taken to the dry cleaning machine.
Step 2:
When the first step is done after that clothes are arranged according to their fabric and color. Some fabrics are dry cleaned because of some stains. So these kinds of stained clothes have to pass through prewash process or spot cleaning. Then the garments are ready to be sent to dry cleaning equipment.
Step 3:
After these two steps the garments are sent to dry cleaner machine that resembles to a big washing machine. This machine has the capacity from 60 to 80 pounds. A chemical solvent named perc is used in this machine instead of pouring water. Different types of detergents are also used in this machine that are useful to remove stains. After pouring this chemical, a circle is started which gets its circle completed in 30 minutes. After 40 minutes, garments are ready to be exposed. After taking out from machine, they are kept on high temperature which helps to evaporate water from the clothes.
Step 4:
Your dresses are ready now after the process of dry cleaning. The cleaner will check them by button or some embellishments that are done on the clothes. If some of them have to be fixed, first of all they fix them. When they are fixed, clothes are sent to shirt press machine which are settled in any pressing industry. Some delicate clothes are pressed manually with small iron.
Step 5:
The last step is done of attaching tags once again. New tags are attached that resemble to the previous and older one. Then they are hanged on conveyor. Then the steps comes to the owner of the clothes who gives the receipt that he knows and cleaners gives clothes back to you after the whole process of new dry cleaner set up. This is how the process of dry cleaning done and may be this is the reason that it is called that dry cleaning is misleading through its name by its process of cleaning.
TYPES OF DRY CLEANING OPTIONS
When it comes to talk about dry cleaning of our dresses, it is a sensitive method especially when the expensive garments have to be dry cleaned in any type of dry cleaning machine. When a customer has to do dry cleaning, he just goes to a nearby dry cleaner shop and drops his expensive dresses over there. When he goes back to take his dress back, he comes to know that the garments are not in their real position and they happen to be spoiled. The reason of this tragedy is that people are not well aware of the types of dry cleaning. They just go to their nearby shops which they know. No doubt, dry cleaning had been invented in 19th century means a long time ago but still people do not know its types and as a result of it they are misguided. Here are three types of dry cleaning so that you may be able to select one of them according to the fabric of your dress.
Dry clean:
Dry cleaning is basically the washing style and method in which dresses are washed with the help of solvents instead of water in dry cleaner machine. This method is highly suitable at that time when a fabric has to be kept away from the water. Another time, it is needed when greasy stains have to be removed from expensive clothes. The dry cleaning has two stages that are called pre-treatment and washing.
Pre-treatment:
In this stage, special chemicals are used to remove dirt, derby and stains from the clothes by washing them with hands. A solvent is spilled over the dress to get the actual purpose.
Washing:
In this process, dresses are washed in machine rather than by hand.
Wet cleaning:
Wet clean resembles with pre treatment. In this way, dresses are washed in the machine by adding extra solvent to remove dirt and to keep them safe. In this way, dresses remain secure for a life time. Chemicals are used but with caution of the color and fabric of the dress.
Laundering:
Laundering resembles the process of washing clothes that is done at home. But when it comes to talk on professional level, it is done with more powerful detergents and chemicals. These strong detergents and chemicals remove stains but are safer for the dresses that are given for washing to any kind of new dry cleaner set up.
So, these were three main types of dry cleaning that most of the people did not know before now. Most of the people are of the view that dry cleaning is the way of washing just for tender and soft fabrics while the fact is not like that because normal fabric dresses can also be washed in this way.
