They can cause severe health complications with regular exposure. It can be even worse if you have young kids and pets.

For carpet & upholstery disinfection, you can use white vinegar. It is safe, inexpensive, and easy to use. Vinegar can kill almost all bacteria and viruses. It is very effective on the bacteria. By using white vinegar, you will be to kill around ninety-nine percent of bacteria. You can use a streamer to make the process more effective. The streamer can kill pathogens and make a safe environment for your family.

DISINFECT YOUR CARPET: STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION

For disinfecting, you will need hot water, white vinegar, and streamer. Get all these things ready and then start the process.

STEP ONE

Prepare a solution of water and vinegar. Mix one part of the water and one part of vinegar to prepare the disinfectant.

STEP TWO

Now the solution is ready. You just need to fill it in the detergent container of the streamer. Avoid overfilling since it will not offer any benefit.

STEP THREE

Run the streamer on your carpet. Follow the instructions of the streamer to make the user safe and effective.

With these three simple steps, you can naturally clean and disinfect your carpet. You should allow your carpet to dry up fully before using it. Moisture will attract dust and cause mold buildup. You can do it in the evening so that it can dry up completely throughout the night. It might leave some vinegar smell. The smell will go off once your carpet dries up.

DISINFECT YOUR UPHOLSTERY: STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTION

As stated earlier, you will have to first clean your upholstery and carpet before disinfecting them. To clean the upholstery, you can use a vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming will remove all the dirt and debris. Make it gentile and do not use harsh bristles since they can damage the delicate fabric. After cleaning, you can disinfect with following steps.

You should never remove cushion covers. Instead, flip them after vacuuming. If you remove them for cleaning, they might shrink. They will not look fresh and might not fit the cushion as well. So, you should never try to wash them separately.

STEP TWO

Buy upholstery cleaning solution or prepare one with water and liquid soap. You can prepare a solution with vinegar or water or liquid soap and water. Fill the solution in a spray bottle. Check the cleaning instructions of the upholstery if you are buying a solution. Remember that each fabric will have some specific cleaning requirements. If you choose the wrong solution, it might damage the fabric. Some might cause discoloration as well.

STEP THREE

Rub the solution on the upholstery uniformly to avoid any spots. Wait for ten minutes to allow the solution to sit and suspend the oil and dirt deposits. After ten minutes, you need to wipe the fabrics with a clean cotton or cloth. Let the upholstery to dry up fully. Otherwise, moisture can trap dirt and cause mold buildup.

This simple disinfecting process will kill almost all bacteria and viruses. You can also rinse the fabric to eliminate the suspended soils.
